A sad day

Poor Ms Ella died yesterday. I adopted her in June of 1996 at the Anti-Cruelty in Chicago, I can still picture the skinny girl hiding in the back of the cage. She was the best dog a person could want, friendly and loyal and a good sport. She will be greatly missed. Now I have to figure out how to explain this to Jacob, who used to help Ella get down the stairs in the morning by calling "ELLA ELLA ELLA ELLA" at the bottom of the stairs.

17 months

So, I think it's time to add some writing to this post since we seem to have a toddler on our hands now, instead of a baby. While I miss the tiny baby, Jacob the toddler is just a blast. He walks around the house pushing his dump truck (thanks Aunt Sherri) and takes different items on a ride on the seat; then he sits down on the seat himself and rides around. He loves to read books and have books read to him, and he even "reads" along, in his own language, of course. He points in the direction he wants us to take him, usually saying "to-da" or "da" which has become easy to understand. When it's time to go outside (according to Jacob), he picks up his shoes and goes to the door, or goes to his stroller. We even go for walks outside with Jacob actually walking! He doesn't speak much English yet, but he is pretty easy to understand, and pretty good at expressing what he wants. So, to those of you friends and family who haven't seen the boy (or us) in a while, Jacob would like to invite you to come by for a visit! He can show you how he waves and he'll probably give you a great, big smile.

Next post

I will post 16 month pics soon, I promise! We've had more laptop troubles and I'm working on recovering the most recent pictures from Susy's phone, but we also just haven't been taking as many pictures of the boy lately. Why you ask? I don't know! He is walking all over the place now (yay) and talking a lot (ball, ball, ball, ella, to-da). Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Happy New Year! and 14 months old

These pics were taken by Grandma Linda in Palm Springs where we celebrated Hanukah, Christmas, Jacob's 14 month birthday, and Grandma Linda's 70th Birthday, all under the big blue sky of Southern California. Most of the pics were taken by Grandma so I'll post more if I get more.
